Fabulous Freelancer Friday: Musings and Job Postings for the Week of 5/18/20-5/22/20

Friday greets us again, freelancers! As always, I send each of you my very best wishes for health and happiness. Here’s what my research brings for this week…


  • Volunteering is indeed good for the mind and soul. Last year, I provided details on this very topic via my post, “Volunteer Opportunities for Freelancers.”
    • This week, while reading the Washington Post‘s newsletter on uplifting stories, The Optimist (which you can subscribe to here), I learned about By the People, a volunteer transcription endeavor set forth by the Library of Congress.
      • If you’re a history enthusiast, and are looking for meaningful ways to pass the time, then this volunteer opportunity is not to be missed.
      • Help transcribe fascinating primary documents online. As of this writing, current projects include the Elizabeth Cady Stanton papers, as well as Civil War materials. Walt Whitman at 200 is another project example; it proved so popular that it has been completed.
      • This video provides a myriad of details about the By the People project:
